International guitar star Artur Menezes shines bright Saturday night at Arcadia Blues Club.
Menezes is known for his high-energy style, delivering to audiences worldwide, including the UK, Argentina, Mexico, Estonia and his native Brazil.
His deft work has won him accolades stateside as well, having won this year’s Albert King Award for best guitarist at the International Blues Challenge. He also took home third-place honors for Best Band in that same competition. His traditional blues style works side-by-side with his modern blues technique.
The ace axe-man once lived in the blues hotbed of Chicago for several years, meeting Buddy Guy and working at his club, Buddy Guy’s Legends. Along the way, Menezes has worked with American legends, including Joe Satriani and Bobby Rush, among others.
