American military service members (5 more than last week) have been reported killed in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001, according to The Associated Press.

civilians have died since the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) began its reign of terror in June. According to a report by the United Nations, an additional 1.2 million people have been left homeless since that time.  

 

people were killed and 20 others injured on Tuesday in Iraq when a car rigged with explosives detonated close to outdoor markets during the morning rush hour. According to The AP, the area has been plagued by suicide bombings.

people were wounded on Monday when an army vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. According to Reuters, the incident occurred as the troops were on their way home. According to Reuters, the Taliban immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
