Spaz on the Plaz
Party on the Plaza features ’80s cover artists the Spazmatics
By John Sollenberger 06/26/2014
If you thought the 1980s were over, think again. The Pasadena Civic Auditorium Plaza comes alive with the sound of music Friday as the Party on the Plaza summer concert series launches with one of LA’s favorite cover bands, the Spazmatics.
This fabulous foursome never fails to wow audiences with its renditions of some of the best sounds of that decade when Reagan reigned and skinny ties were in. The band puts on an energetic show, with the moves and the sounds to keep the audiences jumping.
The Spazmatics recreate some of the New Wave sounds that ruled MTV and radio airwaves. With their humorous stage antics, it would be easy to categorize the group as a novelty act. But when it comes to the music, this band is no joke. The guys are all top-flight musicians, with live renditions of the hits so spot-on one would think they were listening to a big stereo playing the original records.
If you loved the ’80s, this is the show for you. Check them out at perfectworldentertainment.com/thespazmatics.php.
