52nd Annual Sunland-Tujunga Watermelon Festival
The fabulous watermelon festival is moving to the Rose Bowl. The event features watermelon carving demonstrations, recipe, eating, seed spitting and wearable art contests with nightly prize drawings. The coronation of the Watermelon Queen and her court is always a highlight, along with local bands and national touring acts. The bazaar marketplace, arcade games, watermelon-themed games and attractions and an array of festival food favorites and beverages make it fun for the whole family. Festival hours are Friday, 4:00-10:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 10:00pm.
National Kidney Foundation's Rochester Kidney Walk to Fight Kidney Disease
Step up with family, friends and community members on September 15, for the Los Angeles Kidney Walk at Rose Bowl Stadium presented by the National Kidney Foundation. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the noncompetitive walk begins at 11:00 a.m. Teams and individual walkers of all ages are invited to take a lifesaving step and raise funds to support programs that help in the fight against kidney disease in California through awareness, prevention and treatment. Rose Bowl Stadium Tours
Behind-the-scenes, guided tours are offered for the first time in the facility’s history, available at 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m., starting Friday and continuing Thursdays through Sundays, with group tours seven days a week. Cost is $17.50 for adults, $14.50 for children.
