As part of its "Music Unwrapped" series, Grammy Award-winning Southwest Chamber Music presents "Music for Two Harps," an afternoon of exhilarating harp duets, featuring musicians Alison Bjorkedal and Allison Allport. The program features Aaron Copland’s "Quaker Melodies," inspired by American folk tunes, Dominick Argento's "The Angel Israfil," inspired by an Edgar Allen Poe passage, Bernard Andres’ "Parvis," a challenging tour-de-force with extended techniques and complex meters, and concluding the afternoon, the audience will interact with the performers in "Haiku for Harps" by Susann McDonald, and help compose music for a haiku. This program features informal and interactive performances designed to break down the barriers between musicians and audiences of all ages.
